We are asking all who pray, to focus specifically on Meghan's arachnoid villi within her brain. Meghan is currently scheduled for another surgery on Thursday to place a shunt in her brain. The doctors believe that the arachnoid villi (the little one-way values that allow CSF fluid to drain from the brain to the blood stream) have been damaged due to inter-cranial pressure. Meghan currently has a gravity-based drain coming out of her head where they manually manipulate the CSF drainage. On Tuesday and Wednesday, they are going to clamp the drain shut, and measure the inter-cranial pressure. If it goes higher than anticipated, then they will proceed with the Thursday surgery. If it manages to remain stable, we will be released on Wednesday, back to Spaulding Rehab. Can these damaged arachnoid villi be repaired? We believe so, through the power of prayer. So we are calling on all our friends to specifically request this healing.

There is no photo today (sorry Amber). Meghan is unable to even shift positions without a nurse having to recalibrate the drain, so there was really nothing to photograph.

While you're praying, please include Meghan's short term memory. There was no improvement today but my knowledge of healing suggests that the body needs to deal with inflammation damage first, so I most likely need to be more patient. As I look back over this journey, our family has dealt quite well with cancer, chemotherapy, wheelchairs, loss of vision, left side paralysis, meningitis of the brain, radiation, baldness, head shaving, loss of speech, a coma-like state, 6 brain surgeries, infection and difficult therapy. Everything listed above are physical deficits, and while they are not pleasant, they are manageable. I can't say the same for neurological deficits: There are no answers, no solutions, no healing options except patience, and faith. President Uchtdorf said,on the very topic of patience, " There is an important concept here: patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well! " And he added, "Often the deep valleys of our present will be understood only by looking back on them from the mountains of our future experience. Often we can’t see the Lord’s hand in our lives until long after trials have passed. Often the most difficult times of our lives are essential building blocks that form the foundation of our character and pave the way to future opportunity, understanding, and happiness."

Meg keep on hanging in there. You have gone through so much that I know you'll beat this trial too and if you ever need me to help you climb a mountain, I'll be there. No matter how far apart we are my heart will always remain with you. I wish I could write more but I have to go to church now. Miss you a bunch
ReplyDeleteYour Mountain Climbing Buddy,
Mallory (remember the poem you wrote me?)
Healing thoughts and prayers to Meghan! I don't doubt that you can do anything!
ReplyDeleteOh, Helena-- hang in there. You are such an inspiration (no matter how much you claim Meghan gets you through, you are getting her through this as well!). May you have the strength to lean on each other and those of us here who are trying to hold you up. We continue to have faith! Shine on!
Love, Krista, Kat and the Bellings
Dear Kleinlein family: Meghan is in the prayers of many quilters from "Hands to Hearts Quilt Ministry." Diane Dobmeier told me about Meghan's blog and I was so thankful to be able to put a face with a name whom I am praying for. I praise God for hearing each and every prayer and I am thankful for Meghan's blog so our prayer requests can be specific. The quilters will be meeting Mon. night and we will uplift Meghan and her family to our Lord and Savior, who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13. Love in Christ Linda
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quote from President Uchtdorf-thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMeghan- you are so strong, we love you and you are always in our prayers.
