It’s so easy in life for us to receive blessings, many of them almost uncounted, and have things happen in our lives

that can help change our lives, improve our lives, and bring the Spirit into our lives.

But we sometimes take them for granted.

How grateful we should be for all have been brought into our hearts and souls.

I would remind all of you that if we’re ever going to show gratitude properly to our Heavenly Father, we should do

it

with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength—because it was He who gave us life and breath"

Information Overload

My parents had a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Proton Therapy Center. My Dad, before retirement, was an engineer and has a fascination with the finer details of how the cyclotron works. The staff even lent him a 200 page book on the specifics that most people don't care to understand. I am sure in the next few days, he will be teaching me!
Mum, Dad and I went to Legal Seafood for dinner. This is Stephan's favorite restaurant, so after 2 weeks of my mother cooking gourmet dishes for him and the kids (while I ate hospital food), I had to ask him what he was preparing for dinner tonight! The answer was "I grabbed a pizza on my way home".
Meghan chose to stay at Spaulding as she can't stand fish! When we returned, Meghan was ready for a game of "Phase 10". Cousin Judi: Meghan beat Grandad easily......."thrashed" Grandad might have been a more accurate description.

Six more radiation treatments and we are done! Yipee.

  1. Wow! Only 6 more treatments-- the countdown is on!!! I have noticed that there is much more posting about Meghan as tourist than Meghan as patient. Love to see that! I hope the patient part is slowly falling away! Just keep moving forward (Love that!!!)!

  3. Dear Meggie---Grandpa and I just got back from our last trip so I sat down and read all the blog entries since I had left 3 weeks ago (I can't seem to access your blogs from the motel computers). I feel like I just got off aroller coaster ride!!---all the ups and downs! Of course, I read the posts backwards and your last ones were "ups"---so it was a lot easier to read what you have been through when I knew that things were going to end on the upswing. It is always easy to look back when things end well and see how things happened for a reason, but when you are going through it and don't know the end it is sure hard! I guess because you have to go on faith and that doesn't come very naturally or easily---but then that is one of the main reasons we came down to earth. I think you are way ahead of most all of us in learning that lesson Meghan. As old as I am I am still doing Faith 101 and here you are doing your post-docs! I am learning a lot of you and your family as you go through this and hope with such a good teacher I will be able to learn my lessons well too.
We had a good trip this time despite slippery snow in Wyoming, terrible rain in Indiana, and a flat tire on the Dallas freeway! We were blessed that done really caused any problems. This is the second time we had tire trouble in Dallas and had to limp along on a ruined tire to somewhere that sold new ones (we have no spare as the car orginially came with run-flats and so made no provision to store a spare---and we hated the ride and noise of the run-flats). Fortunately both times it was a short way to get to a tire store. Had to join Sam's Club this time as they were the closest place to get them. We got to visit several friends and family (including attending the wedding reception in Houston, TX, of a girl Ralph had blessed as a baby 30 years ago when he was Branch President in Singapore and the girls' father was not a member at the time. He joined and has been branch president himself several times in the Chinese branches both in Singapore and Texas. We also visited the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park (they are together in one part), Canyon du Chelly Nat. Monument (in Navajo country in N. Arizona which is a beautiful mini-Grand Canyon), Capital Reef Nat. Park, Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods, Glen Canyon, The Grand Saircase Escalante, Bryce Canyon Nat. Park and Zion Canyon National Park. They were all different though most with the beautiful red rock of that N. Arizon/S. Utah that Ralph and I love. We always try and see any national park or national monument that is in the vacinity if we have any time at all. This country is so blessed with so many places of beauty and marvelous formations of God's handiwork. We are always in awe (plus Grandpa has his Golden Parks Passport for being so old so we can get into any of the parks and monuments for free!!!---one of the very few benefits of being old). We returned home just in time to see a little of Kristen and Mindi's Mom and Dad before they left, but just missed seeing your Mom's folks as they took off to see you. It is nice being home again, but Ralph has us taking off again next Friday for Vancouver!! This zipping across the country is getting a bit tedious when its every month! But after this trip I think we will be home for the summer. Hopefully we will get to see you before we take off, but if not we will have to whole summer for family picnics and fun. Hurry back to us, Love, Grandma Diane
Well, my love, I have rambled on enough.

  4. Meghan, so pleased to hear that it's not long to go now and then you can really go forward. Also VERY pleased to hear you 'thrashed' Grandpa! Good on ya!! I will tease him about that when I see him. Keep on smiling - you are an inspiration to so many people, and your Mum too! Have tried to upload a picture of Bo (our new dog) but with no success. Will have to send one to you by 'snail mail' when you get home. She is lovely and we are really pleased to have her living with us - only one downside, she snores SO loudly! I bet she snores louder than your Dad!!
You are in our thoughts and prayers as always, Meghan.
    Lots of love
