It’s so easy in life for us to receive blessings, many of them almost uncounted, and have things happen in our lives

that can help change our lives, improve our lives, and bring the Spirit into our lives.

But we sometimes take them for granted.

How grateful we should be for all have been brought into our hearts and souls.

I would remind all of you that if we’re ever going to show gratitude properly to our Heavenly Father, we should do

it

with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength—because it was He who gave us life and breath"

More Therapy

Tim, a Massage Therapist whose hands have a gift for finding blocked energy, works on the muscles in Meghan's left foot. Tim accesses neuro-muscular points that send messages to the brain. Basically, Tim wakes up the muscles, so that Mark can "torture" them.
This is Pam, Meghan's Memory therapist with Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center. They work together on a Brain Fitness Program that helps neurons in the brain to fire successfully. Meghan goes to Memory each morning from 9am-11am. This is the dialogue:
"Let's go Meghan"
"Where are we going?"
"To Memory"
"Oh yeah, I forgot."
"I know, that's why we're going!"
Meet Justin! He is Meghan's Speech therapist with Buffalo Hearing and Speech.

Meet Penny. She is Meghan's cuddle therapist!

Cameron and Brianna had a youth party here last weekend. Here is Sam trying to make the biggest cannonball in pool history. In case you wondered, Sam is 18 years old....not that it matters!
A little payback.......................Brianna was "talking smack" to the Austin and Kyle, so they ganged up on her and threw her in the pool with her clothes on! Don't worry, they got permission from me first.
Dinner was roasting hot dogs around the campfire. Don't tell Mom, but Meghan is making a spider dog!
What is happening.......Meghan is now eating a melted S'more. This is a rare occasion indeed.
This is Terri, my spinning teacher. She tells Meghan that she is every bit as tough on me in class, as I am on Meghan during therapy. To thank Terri, Meghan brought her a glass of breakfast juice: Pineapple, carrots, beets, asparagus, romaine, cucumber and kale. Terri is healthy enough to enjoy it too!
Saturday June 20th: Seminary Graduation. Having woken up for church at 5:30am, all year, Cameron and Brianna receive their awards: Perfect Attendance and the Thomas S. Monson Gospel Scholar Award (for memorizing scriptures, reading scriptures and writing a report).

Meghan's Healing Team at Home

"The Torturer".............................
..................not really, just Meghan's private name for Mark, her Physical therapist. He accepts no excuses, listens to no complaints and expect more from her with each visit. We are blessed to have him as a part of her team.
Mrs Stoll, Meghan's Speech Therapist at Clarence Middle School. They've done a lot of evaluations and we have learned that Meghan has a visual/spacial perception issue that is neurologically based. They still work on pronunciation and articulation for the dysarthria.
Mrs Gardiner, Meghan's Occupational Therapist, who incorporates fun and challenging games whereby Meghan has to use a variety of muscles. This frog toss game looks easy but Meghan is balancing on two half air balls at her knees and two more at her hands. This requires flexibility and stability through the hips and shoulders or the toss could cause her to lose her balance.
Finally, Ms Sobodka, Meghan's Math Tutor from Clarence Middle School. They work daily on 7th Grade math, trying to get Meghan caught up. Ms Sobodka is truly a blessing for Meghan, she is so kind and patient and loving in her teaching style. She is always looking for different methods for adaptation for a sporadic memory like Meghan's. She is another blessing that we are genuinely grateful for.
Wheatgrass.........Meghan's favorite! Definitely joking about that one! An angel named Bonnie grows the wheatgrass for us so that Meghan can drink that juice daily. Pretty horrific taste (it actually tastes like grass clippings) but the nutritional benefits of wheatgrass are astounding: Sources says that one ounce of wheatgrass juice is equivalent in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to two and a half pounds of green vegetables.
One of Meghan's favorite activities is Wedgits. Since learning Meghan has spacial perception problems, Wedgits have become an integral part of our day as she has to take a 2 dimensional image on a card and build a 3 dimensional structure to duplicate it. (Made even more difficult as she only has one functioning hand!)

A side note: We could use prayers that our application to Medicaid gets approved, quickly. Friday June 11th is the last day that insurance will provide coverage for Meghan as we have used up all our benefits. We applied for Medicaid to cover us for the end of the year, but it's an unbelievably slow process. We don't want to have to stop our private therapies--especially the memory therapist!
